Day 73: Jimmy Dunne and Sturdivant
Sturdivant can't catch a break. Now it's Jimmy Dunne taking (another) crack at him. Today's 100-word story in Centenary, the serial novel.
73: JIMMY DUNNE and STURDIVANT
- Sturdivant, I thought of you today.
- Not good.
- Don’t you want to know why?
- Can’t stop you.
- I was picking up my girlfriend’s shoes at the cobbler.
- Girlfriend?
- I complimented them on how they made her shoes look fashiony, almost. Not like senior support shoes.
- Fashiony?
- They’re not for me, I told them. They just stared back.
- “Oh, we never assume,” the husband said. “We see a lot of ladies shoes in large sizes, very large sizes.”
- Like 12s?
- “Larger,” he said. “We don’t ask, but we do wonder who’s wearing those.”
- And that’s when I thought of you, Sturdivant.
