Day 97: Eli and Anne
"Then you'll be gone. Forever." Eli's last words to Anne. Today's 100-word story.
97: Eli and Anne
- You can just walk away, walk out, knowing that we don’t know when – if -- we’ll see each other again?
- Yes.
- Knowing that I might never see our child?
- Yes. And knowing it won’t live here, won’t die at the hands of these monsters.
- Good God, Anne, you’re walking away from us, our future.
- I know.
- That’s what’s monstrous.
- I know.
- You.
- I know.
- When does the flight leave?
- I rendezvous with Sturdy -- he’ll have Postino -- at zero one thirty. Ten minutes to the airstrip. Five more to get airborne.
- Then you’ll be gone.
- I know.
- Forever.
- I know. Goodbye, Eli.
